Come Monday

Come Monday

April 20, 2020 Chart #8

Hello Musical Friends,

Welcome to another COVID quarantine week. If you are like me, these days are running together and I sometimes forget what day it is. Well folks, today is Monday so I though we should have a Monday song to reboot your mood. How about this gem from one of my all time favorites, Mr. Jimmy Buffett. From the 1974 album Living & Dying in ¾ Time, let’s all play “Come Monday”.

For all your Parrotheads out there, Buffett wrote the song to his wife while he was on tour. At a live performance in 1974, Buffett mentioned that he had written the song heading out to California the previous year, meaning that it would have been written as he was “heading up to San Francisco for the Labor Day Weekend show” in 1973. The single version replaces the third line, “I’ve got my Hush Puppies on,” with “I’ve got my hiking shoes on.”

How about this original video with a cool updated intro from Jimmy himself:

Keep Rockin’,

Stan
